Frequently Asked Questions

Does my ICC only cover me for the Mediterranean?

Your International Certficate of Competence is valid worldwide.

Can I take my Yachtmaster Coastal or Yachtmaster Offshore practical examination in the Mediterranean?

Yes you can provided that at least 50% of your qualifying mileage for the exam was in tidal waters.

Do I sleep onboard?

Part of the pleasure and learning on the practical courses is staying on board, so, yes
you do on cruising courses but not on powerboat courses.

What clothing do I need?

During the spring, summer and autumn we find that shorts and T shirts are sufficient with perhaps a sweater for the evenings and maybe a windproof jacket for the night sail. For winter trips, November to end of February long trousers, sweater and wind/waterproof jacket. We can lend you a jacket if you need it.

I'm staying on for a week after my course. Can you store luggage ashore?

Yes we can.

I'd feel better to have the boat to ourselves. Is that possible?

Yes it is possible to book the boat for 'sole occupancy' at extra cost.

Do we come back to base every night?

The essence of cruising is to visit other ports and anchorages so we do try to
overnight in different ports.

Can I take my child with me?

If your child is less than 16 years old then you would have to take sole occupancy on the boat.

Will I have my own cabin?

We do not put two people unknown to each other in the same cabin.

What extras are there?

On sail courses: Evening meals are taken ashore and are an extra cost to you. Marina berths away from base are an extra cost to you.

On motor cruising courses: Fuel costs are extra. Evening meals are taken ashore and are an extra cost to you. Marina berths away from base are an extra cost to you.
